Rihanna's Baby Name Revealed!
Rihanna's Baby Name Revealed!
Apr 27, 2025 4:24 AM

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's son is named RZA Athelston Mayers, reports the Daily Mail. RZA turns one year old on May 13, and Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have kept their child's name a secret until a copy of their son's birth certificate was obtained.

The name RZA references the Wu-Tang Clan, the influential hip hop collective led by Robert Fitzgerald Diggs, known as RZA.

Diggs chose the stage name RZA based on his graffiti tag, "Razor", and "Rza Rza Rakeem", a nickname given to him by fans. He was known as Prince Rakeem pre-Wu-Tang Clan.

Rihanna previously hinted at her son's name by wearing Wu-Tang Clan shirts while out with her family.

Baby RZA shares his middle name with his father, who was born Rakim Athelston Mayers. Athelston is a Medieval English name ultimately derived from the Anglo-Saxon name Æðelstan, meaning "noble stone".

A$AP Rocky was given the name Rakim after the Eric B. & Rakim hip hop group, which may have inspired him and Rihanna to use a musical artist name for their son.

Rihanna announced her second pregnancy at the 2023 Superbowl, but details such as the child's sex or due date have not been revealed. After choosing a unique music-related name for her oldest son, she and A$AP Rocky may use similar inspiration for their next baby's name.
