Yes, yes, we know that Danica McKellar recently named her son after a constellation called Draco and that celebrity chef Jamie Oliver christened his first boy Buddy Bear Maurice, sister to Daisy Boo Pamela, Poppy Honey Rosie, and Petal Blossom Rainbow, thereby inciting yet another storm of stories about crazy celebrity names (okay, I admit it– we did contribute a bit of that ourselves).
But the truth of the matter is that the vast percentage of starbabies have normal, conventional, and popular –often trendy– names. The names most often chosen by celebrities coincide strongly with the names chosen by everyone else, with very few exceptions. And there’s proof.
I looked through our roster of high-profile celebrity births over the past decade (granted we might not have caught every single one, so let’s just preface these numbers with “at least”), curious to see not only if non-bizarre names were in the majority, but also which ones were most popular.
