Origin: British
Meaning: Of Trahald; Burrowing
The other, much nicer, half of Gollum in The Lord of the Rings is Smeagol. In Middle Earth lore and language, the name Sméagol is related to the name Trahald, which incidentally is loosely related to the idea of "burrowing." It's also potentially based on the Old English smygel with a similar meaning.
