Origin: Hebrew
Meaning: Father is peace
Ax is a boy’s name of Hebrew origin. Possibly a contracted form of Axel, it’s understood as “father is peace.” There is also reason to believe that it’s the Scandinavian version of Absalom. In the Hebrew Bible, Absalom is the third son of King David, known to be the handsomest man in the kingdom. He goes on to rebel against his father, only to pay the ultimate price. While this story does not have a happy ending per se, Ax presents a departure from its original and distances itself from this tragedy. And perhaps, this might just help your little one live a better life than their namesake.
